Laguna Beach is what this coast looked like before the towers. Low cottages in faded pastel colors, small rental courts of six or eight units, and dunes and sea oats between the houses and the Gulf. There is no building management out here and no service elevator. It is a gate code, a pool behind a cottage, and an owner who is very often somewhere else that week.
Sand is the west end problem. It blows off the dunes constantly and it does not float, so it settles into the corners and along the steps where a skim never touches it, and it is abrasive the moment it reaches a pump. Add the salt in the air and an open pad here does not get the life the same pad gets two miles inland. We vacuum properly instead of skimming and going, and we look over the equipment while we are there.

How do you keep sand out of a pool this close to the dunes?
You cannot keep it all out, and anyone who says otherwise has not worked the west end. What works is vacuuming the corners and the step treads properly rather than netting the surface, keeping the pump basket clear so grit never reaches the impeller, and rinsing feet before people get in. After a windy stretch it takes longer, and that is built into the visit rather than added to the bill.
We are not here most of the year. How does that work?
We service on the same day each week whether you are here or not, and we message you after the visit so you know the pool is fine. If something breaks while you are away, we call you with what we found. Any repair is quoted and done by our licensed partner, Florida Discount Pool Supply, and only after you approve it.
We have one pool shared by four rental units. Is that different?
It is busier than a private pool and it gets treated that way. More swimmers means more sanitizer demand, more sunscreen in the filter, and a much smaller margin for a missed week in season. We will tell you honestly if it needs more than one visit a week through the summer, and we will tell you when it does not.
Do you cover the whole west end?
We run 32413, which is Laguna Beach and the Sunnyside stretch along with it, on the same day as the rest of the beach. If you are further west than that, ask rather than assume. We would rather tell you we do not reach you than take the account and be unreliable about it.
