Pool Filter Cleaning

Cartridge, sand and DE pool filter deep cleanings, $99 one time, with an equipment inspection and chemical testing included.

Your filter is the heart of the system

A dirty filter means using more chemicals and swimming in unclean water. Cloudy water, a salt system throwing low flow, a pump straining to prime: a lot of those calls end at the filter.

The filter does the work the chemicals get credit for. It pulls out what the chlorine has already killed, along with the pine needles, oak leaves, blown sand and dirt that Bay County pools collect all year. When it loads up, flow drops, and everything downstream starts behaving badly.

Pressure is the tell. Note the reading when the filter is clean, and when the gauge sits eight to ten psi above that, it needs attention. Most pools here want a proper deep cleaning two or three times a year, and more than that under heavy oak cover or on an unscreened pool near the water. On weekly service, filter maintenance is part of every visit: the pressure gets read, sand and DE filters get backwashed when they need it, and a deep cleaning gets booked before the filter chokes.

Cartridge filters

Pulled out and washed pleat by pleat, which is the only way one actually comes clean.

  • Elements removed from the housing
  • Pleats washed out individually
  • Tears and collapsed cores checked
  • Housing o-ring cleaned and lubed
  • Reassembled and pressure read after

Sand filters

Backwashing is maintenance. It is not the same thing as cleaning the filter.

  • Backwashed and rinsed properly
  • Sand checked for channeling and clumping
  • Multiport valve and spider gasket inspected
  • Laterals checked when sand is in the pool
  • Media replacement quoted when it is due

DE filters

Grids stripped, washed and recharged with the right amount of powder.

  • Grid assembly pulled and washed
  • Grids checked for tears and bent frames
  • Manifold and standpipe inspected
  • Filter recharged with fresh DE
  • Correct dose for your filter size

What $99 includes

One flat price, not an hourly rate with a trip charge bolted onto it.

  • Equipment inspection at the pad
  • Full filter cleaning, cartridge, sand or DE
  • Chemical testing once the filter is back on
  • Price given before we come out
  • Torn parts quoted separately, never assumed
Why people choose us

Why Bay County pool owners call Goodies

Four things you can hold us to, on this job and every one after it.

Taken apart, not rinsed

A cartridge sprayed from the outside looks clean and is not. The elements come out of the tank and get washed pleat by pleat.

Two or three times a year

Under slash pine and oaks, or out in the open near the water, it is more. We give you the interval your pool needs rather than a stock answer.

What is found gets said

Torn grids, a cracked manifold, a collapsed cartridge core. You hear about it with a price attached, and you decide.

$99, one time

A flat price you know before the truck is booked. No hourly meter running and no trip charge stacked on top of it.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Common questions from Bay County pool owners.

How often should a pool filter be cleaned?

Two or three times a year covers most Bay County pools. Pools under slash pine or oak, unscreened pools, and pools that get heavy use want it more often. The reliable signal is pressure. When the gauge reads eight to ten psi above where it sits clean, it is time.

Can I just backwash instead?

Backwashing helps a sand or DE filter and does nothing for a cartridge, which has no backwash at all. Even on sand, backwashing pushes debris out but leaves oils and fine material behind, and channels form in the sand over time. It is maintenance between cleanings, not a replacement for one.

What do I get for $99?

Three things: an equipment inspection, a full filter cleaning and chemical testing. The housing comes apart, the cartridge, grids or sand gets cleaned properly, o-rings and gaskets are checked and lubed, it goes back together with the pressure read after, and the water gets tested so you are not running a clean filter on bad chemistry. If something inside is torn or cracked, we show you and tell you plainly what it needs before anything else happens.

How do I know which filter I have?

Text a photo of the equipment pad. Cartridge filters are a tall tank with a clamp band around the middle. Sand filters are a rounder tank with a multiport valve and a handle on top. DE filters look like cartridge filters but have a backwash valve on the side. A picture settles it in a minute.

Will cleaning the filter fix my cloudy water?

Often, because cloudy water is usually a filtration problem rather than a chemical one. If the chemistry is in range and the water still will not clear, a loaded filter is the first thing to look at. If the balance is off as well, the filter clean is part of the fix rather than all of it, which is why the chemical testing is included.
